Austin-based alt-rock band, The Dragon Berries, debut their new single today, “Get On My Side,” in preparation for their And The Moon Turned Red EP release this July. “Get On My Side” is about enduring the anxieties and ups and downs of a toxic relationship.
The band lists bands/artists like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, Jimi Hendrix, and Eminem, among others, as influences. Throughout the entire song, you can find a section that would aptly embrace those influences. However, it does make it feel slightly disjointed with the clear cut style changes from rapped, dark verses to a more gentle, mellow chorus.
The Dragon Berries show promise, and they have the tools to create something unique. I earnestly await to watch them grow and form their own trademark sound. They have tapped into something worth cultivating.
